This isn’t the first time Reem has brought us color, but this is the first time (since her gold and gold accented dresses) that I like her dresses of colors. I’m talking about her blue dresses from her 2008 Spring and Fall collections. I would LOVE to see these on a real Bride if there were any out there who dared to wear one. Here they are…

Reem Acra - Spring 2008

(This bodice - I love - and many others in this collection reminds me of that cute dress that Jennifer Lopez wore at the 74th Academy Awards way back when (2002) for some reason. Although there are similar bodices that I’ve seen since I’ve gotten into fashion, J.Lo’s dress is one that I do remember that can be compared.)

(J.Lo’s dress)
(Stunningly, chic…I think. It’s so much better than those frilly layered / tiered skirts that Monique Lhuillier pumped out for this year.)

Reem Acra - Fall 2008 Collection

(When Elisa Jimenez did these sleeves on Project Runway- Season 4, Episode 6- “Candy Challenge”, Heidi Klum and Michael Kors called her sleeves “cheap”. LOL! That may be a different story, but this…)

(Totally Lord of the Rings on the above right ^)

Here are the other dresses of colors (lavender and pastel green) from Reem Acra.

“You’re sentimental, thoughtful, and attracted to things of lasting value, so it’s no surprise that the vintage-inspired cushion-cut sparkler is the most fitting reflection of your personality. An offshoot of the “old mine” …”

I took a test on Glam.com’s website called “What kind of diamond are YOU?” and as I predicted from the beginning, daaaaarlings, I am all cushion. As if I didn’t know that already.

Anyway, this a really cute test/survey and the questions do make sense, are fun and are all well put together. Basically, you can find out which cut and style of a diamond that best fits your style and personality versus what you think is pretty so take the results as a grain of salt.

I surfed into these today while searching for hair flowers. I think I like these because they don’t look like they will overpower the total look of a Bride.

Ever see a Bride with a monstrosity of a veil on her head before? If not, see that episode of “Whose Wedding Is It Anyway?” where Goddess Samantha Goldberg (NJ event planner - I love her style) puts together a wedding for this one chick (darnit - I cannot remember her name) who Samantha made dye her tacky bleached blond hair back to normal -thank you Samantha for doing that because that chick so needed it, but this is another issue - and who HAD TO HAVE goldfish in her centerpieces. Well, anyway, the veil was hideous and it was too much for her poor little head. It was a tulle looking (almost sure it was tulle), shoulder length, a few layered, white veil plopped right on top of her head right behind her bang. This is just my opinion of course, oh well, thankfully not my wedding. Moving on…

For those of you who anti-veil like me can take take a look at these. I don’t hate veils and I think some are chic when worn correctly, but I think Brides who want to wear a veil should seek out a professional consultation first. When dealing with hair pins and clips, make sure you don’t go overboard with them and become an ethereal ice princess in the process like this chicky in the image below.

In my opinion, a Bride should ALWAYS wear some kind of bridal slip under her wedding dress. Why? Because it’s an important layer that brings some type of form to your wedding dress. I say ALWAYS wear one even with a mermaid and a sheath skirt dress as well. Some dresses (I really hate this - run!) do not come with or are made with the proper under skirt layers. If you don’t have proper layers then you can go through something where your legs get irritated from the material of the dress, you can have some static issues (God forbid) or your dress will not look as vibrate and not as flowijng as it could look if a slip was worn.

When I refer to bridal slip I’m also referring to slips, petticoats, skirts and crinolines. There is a large variety of these undergarments in terms of types and styles. You can find them at your nearest bridal boutique, get them made or you can even rent one if you want to. Quality slips can be very expensive, but remember you get what you pay for.

I also think that undergarments should just be as fierce if not more fierce than how you look on the outside. This means that there is style on the outside and style on the inside. When you take the dress off after your long wedding day then there should be a surprise waiting there for your new husband and for yourself. When you look good, you feel good. I think that the above skirt is chic. :)

“Oh Tanya! It’s too hot to wear a slip!” OK if you say so, but whoever said that accomplishing personal beauty and style was effortless was dead wrong. I just don’t think that being hot is a good excuse for not wearing a slip unless you’re getting married on a beach or on an island where it’s unusually hot.

In conclusion, bridal slips enhances the look of your outerwear and it also leaves something to be desired for you new spouse during your wedding night. Talk about unleashing your femininity! Enjoy!
