Here is a lovely presentation of a $12.00 per slice goddess of a wedding cake. Forgive me, but I had to share! I love big cakes so the bigger the better. I love to be “wowed” by a great big and beautiful wedding cake.

This cake is very chic, stylish and is truly a theme-setter type of wedding cake. This cake says to me that this wedding will be that of a Western theme, a French or Italian vineyard theme or a countryside theme affair. The colors are of nature and the embellishments (the grapes, the illusion of vines going around the entire cake and the old wooden crate) helps me to come to my conclusion.

And for those of you who are curious, ingredients-wise this cake is a…hazelnut and almond torte filled with orange marmalade, chocolate ganache, and vanilla-bean butter cream. Sounds yummy! But look out for those who have nut allergies!

Wedding Cakes: Tip of the Day! I recommend designing your wedding cake around the ideas or theme of your wedding. Using artistic illusions and some cool embellishments will bring your cake alive. And don’t be afraid to use some color too! Plain and common wedding cakes are, well, boring.

As usual, I read the newest articles in the fashion section of nymag.com every Sunday. I was delighted to see that someone else other than me thinks that David’s Bridal is fashionless and I do say this with the best of intentions. Not to sound mean, but if being honest is mean then so be it.

“All those shiny white dresses start to look hypnotically similar, and what the designers lack in creativity, they make up for in rhinestones. The spring 2008 season, which wrapped up last week, showed off gowns that were, for once, more high fashion and less David’s Bridal.” (article)

Anyway, the article was not about David’s thankfully. It was about how the Spring 2008 wedding dress collections were more creative and high fashion than previous year’s collections. Monique Lhuillier, Oscar De La Renta, Carolina Herrera, Elizabeth Filmore and Reem Acra to name a few. Reem Acra received two thumbs up for her tafetta dress pictured below.

The point of the article is that wedding dresses are becoming more fashionable and are not looking all the same anymore. It was so easy some time ago to confuse a Reem with a Lazaro…eeeeeeeeek. Yep, I said it. But gratefully, designers are putting out new and rich designs with more umph than usual!

Youlin is a wonderful fashion designer with her own unique style. I first ran into a Youlin wedding dress design a few years ago in Brides magazine and this was the design, but shown as a black and white photo. I still love it today.

Since then I’ve kept Youlin in my mind and as usual, she’s back with more. Here are the designs I love, overall, from her newest collection. I’ll start with the “triple threat” as I call it because these three are chic. I was able to find the front and back of the dress in the middle and the one on the right. Fierce honey!

The lovely details…

And while I am at it I might as well share with you some other interesting designs that caught my eye. :)

Free flowing with nice details on the back and on the trim of the skirt, simple but beautiful draping flowing from the bodice downward AND as for the chicest design of Youlin’s newest collection, the winner is Goddess:

This next one is definitely different, but sweet. It’s cool to see designers who always throws one in to appeal to the masses. I think that’s very thoughtful of the few. ;) When I look at this dress I think “green” …move over flower children.

The Youlin staff over at Youlin New York’s showroom are very nice people and answered a lot of my questions about the dress pictured at the very top when I called about it and even gave me the price. I have yet to attend a Youlin trunk show, but it is on my list of things to do before I check out.

I ran into this website today and found some very nice ties of good quality at great prices. Pick up a great looking tie for your Groom and his groomsmen or base your wedding colors off of one of them. Overall, tie colors and designs make for great wedding idea inspirations. Surf the web and take a look! Browse through your man’s wardrobe and your father’s too and you may just come out with a wonderful color combination and or reception table design or overall pattern of a theme. Be creative, but be careful and DO NOT leave out the Chic. ;)
