Here is a lovely presentation of a $12.00 per slice goddess of a wedding cake. Forgive me, but I had to share! I love big cakes so the bigger the better. I love to be “wowed” by a great big and beautiful wedding cake.

This cake is very chic, stylish and is truly a theme-setter type of wedding cake. This cake says to me that this wedding will be that of a Western theme, a French or Italian vineyard theme or a countryside theme affair. The colors are of nature and the embellishments (the grapes, the illusion of vines going around the entire cake and the old wooden crate) helps me to come to my conclusion.

And for those of you who are curious, ingredients-wise this cake is a…hazelnut and almond torte filled with orange marmalade, chocolate ganache, and vanilla-bean butter cream. Sounds yummy! But look out for those who have nut allergies!

Wedding Cakes: Tip of the Day! I recommend designing your wedding cake around the ideas or theme of your wedding. Using artistic illusions and some cool embellishments will bring your cake alive. And don’t be afraid to use some color too! Plain and common wedding cakes are, well, boring.

Not to offend anyone and to start of negative, but I don’t care for wedding candy buffets. I’m not going to go into why I don’t care for them, but I will say this: wedding candy buffets are pretty and nice to look at, but they are cliched, uncreative and the candy is mediocre unless you’re serving gourmet delicacies which in most cases is NOT the case.

I love, love, love pastries, sweet breads, cookies and tarts!

Why not create a wedding dessert buffet out of it? You can really get creative with this and with the help of your pastry chef, you two or three can come up with tasty, couture, devine and stylish to present as well. Yes, presentation is everything!

Caution! For clarification purposes, I’m not talking about your wedding reception’s location, full service, mediocre pastry stations, broken down by $2 to $7 per person fees either (two thumbs down).

What’s great about couture dessert buffets is that you’re treating your guests to an array of fine desserts in which they have never tasted or do not get to enjoy every day or whenever they want AND it is just better than plain old bulk bought candy…everybody has had a Jordan almond, chocolate covered pretzel, a Katy-did replica and more of the common candies before — be there done that! Absolutely boring…

Specialty pastries do cost more, but they are so worth it. These can be the alternative to useless wedding favors that are tossed in the garbage or left to collect dust after it’s served its purpose for a day. Send your guests home with a fresh, French tart covered with a pineapple concoction and may others to boot.

Think about it!

Today’s post was inspired by another blogger who’s blog I read often and this is her work. Check her out, Theresa H. Hall!

Wedding Favors: Tip of the Day!

Try to think outside of the box when deciding on wedding favors. Choose favors in which guests can consume or actually use in their everyday lives.

…how wedding cakes are supposed to look. Enough said.

This is a very beautiful wedding cake. I love the draping of the fondant which is very chic and expensive looking. What a great place to add an antique broach to.
I don’t normally like non-floral cake toppers, but this one takes the cake.

What a breath of fresh air. This cake is refreshing, colorful and the flowers (carnations) were a great pick for this cake. It’s coordinated very well and I love the “ribbonry” work.

Wedding Cake: Tip of the Day!

Get involved with the creation of your wedding cake regardless of what your designer and/or baker says. You are paying for it so your input is vital. Your cake is just as important as the purchase of your wedding dress. Just like your wedding day, you only get one so do it up the right way.

I used to hate the idea and even the thought of serving wedding guests cupcakes at wedding reception! For those who disagree with me already…read on!

Cupcakes are common at birthday parties, class parties for elementary students, holiday parties along with cookies and other cakes, your neighborhood bake sales, trade show snacks, etc. In other words, in my mind, it just didn’t fit into a wedding reception setting. And with all of that being said, I love the idea now! BUT I only love the idea IF the cupcakes are professionally made systematically with beautiful colors, setup visually and arranged to perfection. Any other way is just tacky and amusing and I mean that with the utmost sincerity. Some will disagree with me. Defend it if you will, but it will not change my mind.

This cupcake image I posted is what I mean by my last comment. This “cupcake station” is beautifully chic and if it can get better than this one ,then I am all for cupcakes. I believe this is the only image I was able to find that made me change my mind about “wedding cupcakes”. I would love to know whose wedding receptin this is so I can tell them how beautiful this setup was and to give them their credits. If anyone knows, let me know! Bon appetite!

Cakes: Tip of the Day!

When choosing a cake for your wedding day remember that the cake is just as important as “the” wedding dress. “The” wedding dress is the most major focal point of your ceremony and “the” cake is the most major focal point of your reception. When you walk into a reception location what is the first thing that catches your eye??? No, not the centerpieces…who cares about those? IT’S ALL ABOUT THE CAKE!
